A completely redesigned site featuring bright and modern interactions to engage new and returning users
In early 2024, I embarked on a web design project aimed at redesigning the webpage for 9 Degrees, an established climbing gym based in Sydney, Australia.
The primary goal was to enhance my understanding and application of key web design principles, including responsive web design, search engine optimization (SEO), and user-friendly interfaces. Additionally, I sought to delve into image manipulation techniques, particularly in creating custom assets like climbing holds to visually represent the progression of climbing grades.
The project was developed using Next.js 14, a React framework known for its performance and SEO-friendly nature. To enrich the user experience, I integrated the npm library framer-motion, which enabled me to implement smooth page transitions and captivating element animations throughout the site. These animations not only added aesthetic appeal but also helped guide users' attention and improve overall navigation.
Although the project began as a personal endeavor, it is my intention to approach 9 Degrees in the near future to discuss the possibility of adopting the redesigned webpage as their official site. This collaboration would not only showcase my skills and creativity but also provide 9 Degrees with a modern and engaging online platform to attract and retain customers.
